Albert  was elected to the Gibraltar Parliament and served as a Minister in HM Government of Gibraltar from the 4th July 2013 until his retirement from politics on the 11th October 2023 when he rejoined the law firm ISOLAS LLP.

Throughout his time in Government, he held significant Ministerial responsibilities, with a wide-ranging portfolio including responsibility for Digital and Financial Services.

He led the establishment of the Gibraltar International Bank, a first for Gibraltar as a Government wholly owned full-service credit institution dedicating itself to retail banking for the community. 

Albert also introduced the world first legal and regulatory framework for the licensing and regulation of Distributed ledger technology firms in January 2018 and pioneered the establishment of the Industry. He also worked on granting Gibraltar’s firms exclusive access to UK Market post Brexit. 

In January 2024 Albert was appointed by King Charles III to be a Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to the financial and digital industries in Gibraltar.
