Mr Lau is Chief Business Officer of Animoca Brands, one of the most prolific web3 investors with 550 companies in its portfolio that spans gaming, infrastructure, DeFi and AI. Mr Lau is in charge of running Investment and Portfolio, and has led successful initiatives including Moca, Open Campus, and most recently Animoca’s AI ventures.
Before Animoca, Mr Lau was Chairman & CEO of Tencent WeSure, an AI-driven InsurTech startup that serves over 100 million families in China. Before Tencent, Mr Lau was a Senior Partner at McKinsey and headed up McKinsey Digital for Asia.
He is currently on the AI Advisory Board of HK University, and advises and backs the AI & Creativity Program at Oxford University’s new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.
On the culture side, Mr Lau is the Vice-Chair of M+, a new visual arts and culture museum in HK. He also Co-Chairs Asia Councils of Tate and Guggenheim.
